Description
A view of Half Dome from Olmsted Point, a famous vista viewing area off Tioga Pass Road in Yosemite National Park. It is named for a landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, who was instrumental in the protection of Yosemite in 1860s. He and Senator John Conness of California worked to designate Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Big Tree Grove as public lands under the protection of the State - the first land set aside by Congress for public use and laid the foundation for what would later become the National Parks.
