Description
A view of the Columbia Icefield at seen from the Skywalk in the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada. The Columbia Icefield is the largest of all icefields and is guarded by 11 of the Rockies Mountains 22 highest peaks. The glacier straddles the Continental Divide, two provinces and two national parks, feeds three of Canada's largest rivers and eventually flows out into three oceans. The ice is 1,200 feet thick - about the height of the Empire State Building. The icefield is located along the highway between Banff and Jasper National Parks.
